Cryptohopper offers the ability to secure your account with two factor authentication (2FA). Instead of only logging in with your username and password you will also need to enter a secret code from your 2FA application everytime you log in.
We offer 2FA with the following services: Google Authenticator and Yubikey. In this tutorial we will use Google Authenticator for two factor authenticating.
Download Google Authenticator
Download the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device:
Install the application on your device and when you're ready go the next step.
Enable 2FA on your Cryptohopper account
- Log in to your account and go to your User Profile. Scroll down and select Google Authenticator in the select box underneath Two Factor Authentication.
- Scan the QR code with the Google Authenticator app
- Enter the security code given by Google Authenticator
- Click Save.
Emergency passwords
After enabling 2FA the user profile page displays a few emergency one time passwords which you can use whenever you lost your 2FA device. Print out these passwords and save them in a secure spot. These passwords will be immediately destroyed after use.
