To allow your bot to interact with Bybit, you will need to create an API Key. This key acts as a connection between Cryptohopper and the exchange, enabling your bot to perform tasks such as placing automated orders and accessing your balance for its calculations. Essentially, the API Key serves as a way for your bot to communicate with the exchange and execute the actions necessary for automated trading.
Important: when you create an account with Bybit it’s an Unified Trading Account (UTA). For now, you can’t connect your UTA to your Cryptohopper account. We’re working on making this possible. You need to create a sub-account and for that sub-account create an API Key. For more information on creating a sub-account see https://www.bybit.com/en-US/help-center/article/Bybit-user-guide-Subaccount-settings. For the rest of this instruction, we assume you already have created a sub-account.
Step One
If you haven't already, go to Bybit website and create an account and a sub-account.
Step Two
Verify your account and get started. Click on the profile icon in the upper right corner and click “Subaccount”.
Step Three
Click “API Management” for the sub-account you want to create an API key for.
To create an API, click "Create New API". Than you have to choose what type of key you want to create. Click “System-generated API Keys”.
Step Four
The permission you need to give can also be found in the print screen below. First give your API key a name.
We need “Read-Write” permissions and “Only IPs with permissions granted are allowed to access the OpenAPI”. The IPs you need to fill in can be found in your Cryptohopper account. Navigate to your Cryptohopper account and find the baseconfig. From there, click on the tab labeled "exchange".
Check the box before “Standard Account” and check the box before “Trade”.
Check the box before “Assets” and check the box before “Exchange History”. The rest doesn’t need to be checked.
Click “Submit” and verify if needed.
Step Five
Copy the API Keys shown on Bybit and paste them into Cryptohopper. Then, save the changes on both Bybit and Cryptohopper. Allow a moment for the bot to link everything together, and your balance should become visible.
Unable to see exchange balance
If you are unable to see your exchange balance, there may be a few issues preventing your bot from synchronizing with your exchange. One common cause is "auto-fill" being enabled in your browser. To fix this, you can try disabling auto-fill, using incognito mode, using a different browser, or disabling your password manager.
